Local born & bred Leicester Publicist to play dual-role in major film documentary looking at multi-culturalism in Leics and Edinburgh-starts filming-Saturday 5th August and to end on Saturday 4th August-2007. By SSCOM GROUP-(Simon Shiekh Communications Group)-PR/Media & Fundraising Management Agency for Leics/Rutland
A revised PR/Media & Fund-Raising Management Agency for Leics/Rutland-the SSCOM GROUP-(Simon Shiekh Communications Group) is set to incorporate Edinburgh in a major film documentary looking at multi-culturalism alongside Leicester. It all begins shooting as of Saturday 5th August, the day that it launches as a fund-raising management agency, exclusively, and also hopes to raise awareness of the recently cancelled Leicester Caribbean Carnival, of which SSCOM GROUP believes is the single most multi-cultural event hosted in Leicester.
The documentary entitled, "Simon Shiekh: An Insider's Guide to PR-like you've never seen before", will examine how multi-cultural life goes on in Leicester and Edinburgh. The Group wants as many local people as possible from the two cities to get involved on what will be a worthwhile project, as well as the potential to attract deserved sponsorship. The plot of this film, part fiction and fact will concentrate on Group Founder/MD, Ayaz Sheikh, 35, playing a dual-role as "Simon Shiekh", (who he created back in February 1991), and after Ayaz finds him living in Edinburgh, tries to convince Simon in helping him out to bring the Leicester Caribbean Carnival back, and also experiment on tourism/multi-culturalism avenues between the two cities. They both liaise with Edinburgh locals, especially during the latter stages of the Fringe Festival and the Edinburgh Mela in the film. Simon Shiekh then returns back to Leicester with Ayaz after his trip between Saturday 26th August and Sunday 3rd September, 2006 and continue to work on the campaign for the rest of the year, including more planned trips to Edinburgh. The reason why Edinburgh has been chosen in this film is because of Simon's pen-pal of 7 years, Bruce (Thomson), 36 from Liberton in Edinburgh; a fellow cricket lover. With contrasting personalities and otherwise, different interests, this makes their friendship all the more challenging, multi-culturalism wise!
It hopes to be released by December 2007 on DVD/VHS. Depending on demand, it is planned to initially release 10 copies; 5 each to be allocated to Leics and Edinburgh, respectively.
The film will also be set in the University town of Loughborough; the hometown of Simon Shiekh.
An Indian Restaurant on the carnival route (London Road), namely “Rice N Spice”, will throw it’s weight behind this campaign and be a venue used for filming. SSCOM GROUP has pledged to pay for a meal for 2, up to the value of £25, every month, as of Saturday 5th August onwards, to Saturday 4th August, 2007, and publicise the winners on the group website/local media coverage/in the restaurant itself etc. There are already posters and flyers in the restaurant itself, leaving diners intrigued!
Ayaz said, "I'm also pleased to announce that this venture now has the backing of the Leader of Edinburgh City Council and Radio Forth-the local commercial station there. They should both feature in the film. I'm also due to meet a local Edinburgh MP on 31st August in Edinburgh which should prove very interesting. However it's steadily gaining support in Leics after I've written to quite a few contacts, and I'm sure the project will develop as time goes by".
