Recent spooky LOROS fund raising event at Harborough Theatre on Friday 13th August to culminate in £2000 sponsorship attempt and after-show party, set for 4th December.

A recent spooky fund raiser for LOROS, resurrected after 10 years by a former student of a Leicester College, Ayaz Sheikh (33), and now being the Founder / Managing Director of SSCOM Group (Simon Shiekh Communications Group) a Voluntary PR/Media Agency for Leics, entitled "I'm a Scared Student….Get Me Out Of Here…Cause It's Haunted!", a 'reality TV show recording' which took place at the Harborough Theatre, Market Harborough, Leics, on Friday 13th to Saturday 14th August (7.30pm-7.30am), is set to culminate by a £2000 overall sponsorship attempt within Leicester, and also the hosting of an 'after-show' party, where we anticipate 250 attendees, to be sought asap, with tickets being sold at £8 each, of which every 25p will go to LOROS.

The film will also be shown in three (3 hour segments) allowing all attendees to see it, if they wish, there is also a bar and buffet service. After which the official cheque presentation will occur, and a possible disco. This will be held at the Leicester University Charles Wilson Building function and theatre style room on the evening of Saturday 4th December, between 7pm and midnight. We will also be looking to invite current sponsors (especially an official sponsor, who we are in the process of interesting a further £500 plus will guarantee this, should any other sponsors total under this figure, as it's hoped that the group can ensure an overall total of £2000 for a project such as this. However, it will be great if we could exceed the total), and other relevant sections, such as the local media, including those who recently covered the project.

It is also hoped to interest existing students, especially from Leicester University itself and possibly beyond in Leicestershire, over the age of 18, as SSCOMGROUP believes that the film etc should be of interest to them, (before it's shown on TV-which is still being negotiated), and they could also be considered for "I'm a Scared Student 2", hoping to take place, sometime in 2005.

Ayaz said, "It will be a great way to see out 2004, as far as we're concerned, and to hopefully come up with a satisfactory total of £2000 for a project such as this, especially as a resurrected one from 10 years ago. I'm pleased with the results so far, but am looking forward to wrapping up an interesting project like this, and to raise awareness of SSCOM Group's forthcoming campaigns on a voluntary level involving local people. I am revising links with contacts from the past, looking to forge new ones at present and in future, hoping to make a real difference from a PR point of view in due course, with no profit to us, whatsoever, and am looking to recruit a new voluntary management team, who would like the idea of getting involved, gaining work experience in PR/Marketing and Media Relations. I'm also currently visiting and writing to possible sponsors to help us boost the current sponsorship total, estimated at £330. I hope this can be exceeded in due course, with the additional contribution from other participants in the recent event."

Anyone interested in sponsoring or wanting tickets for the event can do so by either sending cheques, made payable to SSCOM Group to: PO BOX 5091, Leicester, LE4 7XX, e-mailing info@sscom-group.com and/or apply on the mailform facility on the website: www.sscom-group.com.

LOROS itself can accept donations relating to the event only (but not ticket sales), more details on how to, are on: www.loros.co.uk, or call the fund raising dept on 0116 2318431, mentioning that it's for this event.

It is hoped all monies can be collected in by Saturday 27th November, ready for the presentation, a week later.
