SSCOM GROUP's roots stem from the Founder/MD, Leicester born
and bred; Ayaz Sheikh. The initiative was set
up back in March 1998, as a PR/Media & Fund-raising Management Agency for Leicestershire/Rutland, (after Ayaz's 10 years of voluntary work and joining a Hospital Radio Station) with SSME (Simon Shiekh Media Entertainments),
three months after he attended the radio school in Berkshire,
founded by former Radio 1 DJ - Bruno Brookes. SSME began
by hosting mobile discos within Leics for FREE-(the public thought it was a wind-up at the time!) and also
a few PR events for charity, in association with organisers
themselves. Eighteen months later it became SSCOM GROUP,
as it was becoming more administrative, and continues to be so. It also now incorporates the city of Edinburgh, exclusively.

Since March 1998,
SSCOM GROUP has met and interviewed local figures, including members
of Leicestershire County Cricket Club, and staff at the GWR
owned commercial radio station - Leicester Sound, in January
2000. Received correspondence from other local figures including
those who have gone on to enjoy national fame like Gary Lineker and David Gower, the latter, who sent this quote:
"I would like to add my best wishes to all at Simon Shiekh
Communications Group, especially for their continued work in
the charity sector. I am sure a lot of people will also be very
grateful for all their efforts in a part of the country (Leics)
which still holds some special memories for me."
Current and Future Services:
Fund Raising -
The last project was for LOROS in Leicester, back in August 2004. In the middle of a new ambitious project looking at multi/inter-culturalism between Leics/Northants & Edinburgh.
Community Relations - Organising events and bringing
people from all walks of life together in unique sense team
based projects and all on a local scale for the meantime.
Public / Media Relations - Being the official spokesperson
for the public in forthcoming activities, of which they would
like the SSCOM Group to represent them for, and in turn, press
release to the media when appropriate.
Corporate Events - Working with the business community,
organise their respective company events.
Travel Club - Setting up a new business venture within
the group and giving the people of Leicester/Northants and Edinburgh the opportunity
to choose their respective travel destinations, and travel with
the people in the club who share particular interests.
Releasing Publications / Merchandise - Stemming from
forthcoming activities & previous charity events such as the "I'm a Scared Student Event", comprising of local people and their involvement
with the group, also focusing on local people and their daily
lives. Also, our forthcoming project should be covered by this, particularly spin off-goodies from our film project and "Name The Tune".
SSCOM GROUP continues to make a mark on the Public Relations scene
in Leics/Northants & Edinburgh as a “breath of fresh air”. A group that is NOT financially motivated & aims to put the people of Leics/Northants & Edinburgh-first! The current film project is set to be the biggest challenge of all, and they are looking to clearly relish the occasion, successfully, with other new members of the GROUP, soon.
It will look to test-pilot the SSCOM GROUP scheme in Leics/Northants and also with Edinburgh, on such a project. In addition, it will eventually involve being a fund-raising agency where we'll work with good causes and make a difference. Whatever, it's set to be an interesting journey ahead, for whoever is
involved, so watch this space!!!
