SSCOM GROUP links up with the Scottish City of Edinburgh-a city also with a multicultural setting and vibrance, but with a major contrast to Leics....

Trips to Edinburgh by Ayaz and SSCOM GROUP as below-(starting with the most recent):

  • Sunday 4th March 2007 to Wednesday 7th March, 2007. Also between Saturday 24th March to Tuesday 27th March, 2007.
  • Ayaz returned from a week-long visit to Edinburgh which included the closing stages of the Fringe Festival, something he'd never been to, and continues to look forward to raising awareness of multi/inter-culturalism there, and also about the Leicester Caribbean Carnival. He went between Saturday 26th August, and Sunday 3rd September, 2006. Details about the Edinburgh trip-Aug/Sept 2006

Edinburgh has been chosen as the next city by SSCOM GROUP for undertaking the project, due to the fact that the city has fascinated Ayaz on his previous visits

and that a pen-pal of Simon for 8 years-Jazz Musician/Pianist Teacher, Bruce (Thomson), 38, a fellow cricket

lover, resides there. However, Bruce is originally from the West coast of Scotland-Ayrshire. With contrasting personalities and otherwise, different interests, this makes their friendship all the more challenging, inter-culturalism wise! Bruce learnt about the multi-cultural community of Edinburgh via SSCOM GROUP's current venture, and attended part of the Edinburgh Mela on Saturday evening, 2nd September, 2006, for the very first time!

In addition, Ayaz is continuing to intrigue the multi-cultural society there, particularly the Asian Community with this project, and at the same time, fascinate them. He also believes the project could help tourism additionally, for Edinburgh as well as Leicester. He is, however, disappointed that VisitScotland are not taking any interest, but believes that SSCOM GROUP's tourism contacts elsewhere, will play a huge part. However, if SSCOM GROUP can contribute an idea that the tourist boards have never anticipated, then this would be a bonus for the two cities concerned and shouldn't raise conflicts of interest, due to the fact that Ayaz & the group stand to make no money whatsoever from such a venture like this, and don't expect to.
