The Treasurer is at the centre of the organisation's most crucial asset, it's money and is responsible for overseeing all financial transactions. Often a very difficult role as money is always tight and it's acquisition and distribution must always be made known to the group through the organisation's accounts. It is the Treasurer's function to make sure the books are intelligible and the group members understand the accounts. The Treasurer will also monitor useful rules for dealing with money.

In addition, the Treasurer is supported by a Finance Assistant whose role is in a less, formal one and would cover incase of sickness/holidays etc.

Main purpose of role:

• To oversee and control the group's finances

• Check and pay the group's invoices and bills.

• Keep the group informed about the funding situation

• Advise the group on fund-raising

• Co-ordinate and help with funding submissions

• Prepare the accounts for the auditor and AGM

• Make sure that members are reimbursed for any expenses they incur on the group's behalf

• Ensure that monies received are applied to the purposes for which they were obtained
