Long running filming of cultural documentary finally captures anticipated footage of Leicester Caribbean Carnival.
Voluntary PR agency ends two year unexpected wait to incorporate multi-cultural Leicester event with Edinburgh footage:
A Leicester based voluntary PR agency, SSCOM GROUP (Simon Shiekh Communications Group) which missed out on filming the return of the Caribbean Carnival last year, has now ended a 2 year wait by doing so, at this year’s event last Saturday.
As part of a continuing film project (which ironically, began in Leicester on the cancelled Carnival day of 5th August, 2006 with an exclusive interview with Chairman of the Carnival, Dennis “Sugar” Christopher), it is also incorporating the cultural links between Leicester and Edinburgh.
Founder of the Group, Ayaz Sheikh, from Leicester said, “The carnival is the single most important multi-cultural event on Leicester’s festivals calendar. I think it is important that we celebrate the city’s diversity by championing events like this. I am also excited that the film project has allowed us to make up for missing out on this event for last year, in terms of being able to capture footage and interviews with participants and so on at this year’s carnival. It was a spectacular day and brought Leicester city centre to life! We are grateful to “Sugar” & co. for allowing us to do so”.
It is hoped (depending on when the filming ends) that it is released on DVD and the Internet, after being anticipated to end spectacularly, in Edinburgh at a planned, glitzy charity event which will end with a massive twist! Footage of the carnival will be shown at this event. Attendees are anticipated from the East Midlands and Scotland for this gala.
In the meantime, the group is also looking for further volunteers and anyone else interested in working on the film between the two cities.
Anyone interested in helping to take part in the film in Leics, or to receive further information should call 07817 057078 or e-mail info@sscom-group.com
