SSCOM GROUP-a revised PR/Media & Fund-Raising Management Agency for Leics and Rutland began filming an exclusive, factual, major documentary, to be released on DVD and the Internet-(anticipated for sometime in 2011 or 2012). Entitled, "Simon Shiekh: An Insider’s Guide to PR, Like You’ve Never Seen Before", it will attempt to communicate tourism/multi/inter-culturalism in a way that has probably never been attempted. It all started incorporating the city of Edinburgh, (and now with Northampton set to play an exclusive cameo role) on:

It is hoped that as many local people as possible from the three cities get involved in an exciting venture. The filming will now end at a glitzy fund-raising function in Edinburgh, on a Saturday evening, planned for sometime in 2010 or 2011, exclusively, billed as "The Big One!" East Midlands MEP, UKIP’s Derek Clark is set to play a big part in this by visiting Edinburgh for the very first time, and speaking exclusively at the event. It is also hoped that star names from both sides of the border, join him. There is also to be a real, massive twist at the event, in which a special appearance will be made and filmed.....hopefully, stunning our guests!

In addition, funds raised are to go to several local charities to be confirmed, in Leics, Northants and Edinburgh, including via a Dress Rehearsal event at the home of Leicester City Football Club's Walkers Stadium, also anticipated for sometime in 2010 or 2011.

Also, because of the incorporation of Derek Clark and the Matt Hampson Trust Fund, Northampton is now set to play an exclusive cameo role in the film (the latter was injured at the town's Franklin Gardens Rugby Ground, back in March 2005)

The plot of this film concentrates on Group Founder/MD , Ayaz Sheikh, 38, playing a dual-role as “Simon Shiekh”, (a character Ayaz invented in February 1991 whilst working as a radio presenter on Loughborough University’s Campus Radio):

Simon is sent to Edinburgh in August 2006; Ayaz makes a surprise visit there & meets up with Simon and the latter's pen-pal of 9 years, 39 year old Bruce Thomson. Bruce sees "double"! This is the link to Edinburgh, just out of interest. Thereafter, further links are made with others..... such as

The people from Leics/Edinburgh we've filmed/interviewed so far

A challenge then looms on trying to attain 80% of Leics, Northants & Edinburgh, to form similar links for the future and be represented by SSCOM GROUP. The film will also feature, exclusively, the search/interview and eventual recruitment of Promotions Teams from Leics, Northants & Edinburgh, who will be given the task to join the current re-scheduling of "The Big One!" and the Dress Rehearsal charity event in Leicester. In addition, at least three"Apprentices" from the three cities will be recruited via an "Apprentice Style" interview, to help represent Leics, Northants & Edinburgh as counterparts on a permanent link between the three cities via SSCOM GROUP. The final filming events will now be open to the whole of the East Midlands and Scotland, but potential interest from around the rest of the UK will be welcome.

The filming has taken in exclusive footage of famous events in Edinburgh so far (including the world famous Fringe Festival-2006, the multi-cultural Edinburgh Mela-2006 and the Edinburgh Hogmanay Street Party-2007/08) and hopes to help form new links between people from the two cities. It will also look at what PR means to everyone, in everyday life, but most importantly, will be an insider's guide to it. What makes a good story? How do the public benefit from PR, how do/will they perceive local media? Do they have any confidence in doing PR themselves? A PR Survey will also be conducted in the three cities and filmed. The film should be 90 minutes in length. Also, we hope to post the best bits (not featured in the eventual final film edit), on this website. However, this could change-to be confirmed.

During the remainder of the filming period, we’re still searching for and inviting people from the two cities to be part of this film, and co-interview potential subjects, such as the local media in the two cities, local MPs (those who’ve taken part so far include Loughborough’s Andy Reed) and help out on promotional campaigns for the film, plus other subjects to be featured in the film, to be confirmed. We're also looking to create new historical links between the two cities, inter-culturalism wise. We hope the link to this film is the stepping stone to more long-standing friendships on common ground.

Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control, we were unable to film the anticipated return of the Leicester Caribbean Carnival 2007, and not being able to incorporate the Edinburgh Mela 2007 and the end of the Edinburgh Festival 2007. However, BREAKING NEWS!-We have now made up for this in August 2008!

However, we will now have to put more emphasis on the main theme of the film, being multi/inter-culturalism in the two cities and ensure that remainder of the filming is a success and above all, ends with an exciting finish!

The latest development is that the documentary's footage over 2 years (Aug 06 to Aug 08), will now be edited down to 30 minutes. This will also be part of the final edit, which hopes to be 80 or 90 minutes and will be shown at the two charity events to come, but professional film-makers will now work on the final filming/editing. Also, we have now had to halt filming, but instead, are set to work on a new-fund-raiser in the form of hosting "Name The Tune", a music quiz spin-off from Facebook, under the profile name of "sscom leics". We will review the project at the two anticipated final filming events in Leicester & Edinburgh. It is also hoped that filming can finally resume towards completion, from mid to late 2010 onwards, ot thereafter.

In addtion, we can exclusively announce that our youngest volunteer-ever, at the group, Lauren Rosewarne, will play a starring role in this documentary, as she studies on her way for a Media degree at University, in 2011-watch this space!

In the long run, it is hoped the SSCOM GROUP's film can be a permanent reference guide in PR/tourism and multi-interculturalism, as well as being an inspiration for Leics/Northants with the help of a Scottish City such as Edinburgh. We also hope that this is a powerful tool for everyone for the future, and anyone else inspired by multi/inter-culturalism, showing the rest of the UK, Europe and perhaps, around the world that without "fear of the unknown", anything is possible.

(Be part of this exciting venture)
